Every diamond is unique.
Each reflects the story of its arduous journey from deep inside the earth to a cherished object of adornment.
Yet all diamonds share certain features that allow us to compare and evaluate them. These features are called the 4Cs.
The 4Cs represents the globally accepted standard for describing diamonds: Carat weight, Colour, Clarity, and Cut

The marquise cut also known as the "navette" cut has the benefit of maximising the diamond carat weight making it look much larger than its weight.

It is often mounted in rings as a solitaire set in the same direcaration as the fingers, bestowing the flattering effect of making the hand and finger look longer and more slender.

A marquise diamond should be mounted with claws that protecarat the delicate points of the stone. There is no set number of facets to a marquise cut.

At Ancardi, we understand that it is important to check that the marquise does not have flaws near the delicate pointed edges, as this could increase the possibility of breakage at these points. We also check for the brilliance of the stone and examine the 'bow tie effect' (a dark patch that looks like a bow tie), even if the stone has an excellent cut grading. Good symmetry is also very important when choosing the stone.
