Every diamond is unique.
Each reflects the story of its arduous journey from deep inside the earth to a cherished object of adornment.
Yet all diamonds share certain features that allow us to compare and evaluate them. These features are called the 4Cs.
The 4Cs represents the globally accepted standard for describing diamonds: Carat weight, Colour, Clarity, and Cut
carat colour clarity cut shape
round
princess
Princess, also known as the "square modified brilliant" it is the most popular diamond shape in the world after the round cut diamond. The princess generally has very good fire and a high degree of brilliance. It is traditionally square in shape, but can also be slightly rectangular. In fact, it is cut much like an upside down pyramid.

As princess cut diamonds have sharp, pointed, uncut corners, when considering the clarity of the princess cut, it is important to be aware that any large inclusions very close to the corners of the crystal can lead to durability problems. The corners of the stone are fragile and need to be handled with great care when setting. Ancardi uses only durable princess cut diamonds and hence does not use princess cut diamonds with inclusions very close to the corners of the stone in our jewellery.
